On my recent USAF tours to Germany, one of the wonderful things to get to do was to take "Wounded Warriors" on morale tours to nearby cultural sites within a reasonable drive of the post on Saturdays. One of the tour destinations was to Trier, to see the Porta Nigra, Roman Amphitheater, the Town Square with its Saturday markets and activities, a nice local restaurant, the Constantinian Basilica (now a Lutheran Church), Dom St. Peter's, and other site seeing destinations. One of the places which we would sometimes stop was the Benedictine Abbey of St. Matthias, which houses the relics of St. Matthias.
